Mystery Forest (谜林)

The story begins with an explosion on New Year's Eve sixteen years ago, which destroys the life of a young boy named Zhao Long, an orphan with heterochromia burdened by the blood feud of his family's massacre. He flees his hometown and assumes the alias Wang Hong (played by Yan Zi Dong). Sixteen years later, he returns to his hometown of Xin Chun under the identity of a timber merchant. On the surface, he is buying red pine, but secretly, he is investigating the truth behind the explosion that shattered his family. On his path to revenge, he meets Li Xue Fei (played by Wu Jia Yi), a woman who is also carrying deep trauma—she is searching for her missing mother. The two form an alliance, and as a series of timber smuggling cases and murders occur, they gradually peel back the layers of long-buried clues to uncover a truth that has been hidden for over a decade. The director has stated that the core of the drama is not just "revenge," but "returning home," exploring what a person who has been away for sixteen years is truly searching for—the truth, or the self they lost in hatred.
