This drama is not adapted from a novel. It is an original screenplay, originally developed as the graduation production for the Beijing Film Academy Class of 2022 acting program, under the working title Seeing the Future (看见未来). The script was collectively developed by the faculty and students. The streaming platform later acquired the rights, retitled it Bionic Trace, and released it commercially. Because it is an original work, there is no source novel against which to measure accuracy or identify deleted scenes.

Part 3: Meaning as the Drama's Title
As the title of this series, "Bionic Trace" operates on multiple levels: Origin and Renaming: The drama was originally titled Seeing the Future (看见未来) during its time as a student production. The commercial title Bionic Trace was chosen to foreground the two genre pillars of the series: the "bionic" (仿生) element, referring to the awakened android Ada and the broader ethical questions of artificial life, and the "trace" (迷踪) element, referring to the fugitive investigation structure in which Song Yang, framed for murder, must follow a fragmented trail of clues while being hunted himself.
Thematic Resonance: The "trace" is not merely the criminal investigation. It is also the trace of consciousness—the question of whether an android like Ada, who develops self-awareness, leaves a mark that can be called a "self." The title asks, implicitly, whether a being that is made rather than born can leave a trace that matters. The answer, the drama suggests, is yes—but at a cost.
